Our Story from Excited Dog Lovers to Passionate Lagotto Romagnolo Breeders

Connecting Education with Breeding
Our Story, at “Teacher’s Pets” kennel beautifully captures the essence of our profession and the qualities of the Lagotto Romagnolo breed. Much like the “teacher’s pets” in a school classroom, Lagotto Romagnolo dogs are known for their eagerness to learn and improve. We breed with the same dedication to intelligence, loyalty, and forming deep bonds with their human companions. Their remarkable trainability and affectionate nature make them perfect examples of what it means to be a cherished, standout member of a family.
As passionate educators and proud parents, our love for teaching and nurturing extends beyond the school classroom to our cherished Lagotto Romagnolo dogs. My wife and I, both dedicated elementary school teachers, are delighted to introduce you to our kennel, “Teacher’s Pets.” The name of our kennel reflects our dual commitment to guiding young minds and raising well-loved, well adjusted, intelligent dogs.
A Journey Starting in our Childhood
Our journey into the world of breeding began from our childhood. We had pet dogs since birth, and occasionally there were puppies around, that we both loved to take care. During our common family life we adopted Goofy, a lovely Caniche – Griffon mix boy, which we lost 16 years latter. After having kids, though, the fire about getting another family dog and enjoying the benefit of having it in our life lit up again. Our goal was to find a breed that would motivate us to visit the natural beauties of Corinth and the Peloponnese. After looking around to local shelters and breeders’ web sites, we came across the Lagotto Romagnolo breed and it was love at first site!
Our passion about this breed was born long before we met our first Lagotto Romagnolo. Our boy Darco Il Monte Del Bianco, aka Hookie, entered our home for the first time back in November 2020, and quickly became a cherished member of our family.
A Story from Passion to Responsibility
Inspired by the breed’s intelligence, gentle nature, family connection, and remarkable truffle-hunting skills, we decided to share our love for these wonderful dogs with others.
While fulfilling all the requirements for a non-professional dog-breeding kennel, according to Greek and European legislation, as well as responsible/ethical breeding standards (dog shows conformations, DNA tests, Xrays, etc), we applied to the World Canine Organisation, know as FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale), through the Greek Kennel Club, know as KOE, for an approval of our Kennel Name “Teacher’s Pets“, and soon enough we received our registration Number (GR087/23) and approval in summer of 2023.
Since then, it’s been a great journey!. A story full of excitement, surprises and fluffy balls with wagging tails running around!
